Encaustic, on art board, 6 x 8 inches framed, 2016 –

This piece really pops when seen in person. The chocolatey strawberry and swizzle stick are cut from a separate piece of art board, attached to the background board, and then painted giving the piece a dimensional feel. The swizzle stick and the green stem leaves are not glued down and thus sit off the board. The chocolate liquidy effect is achieved by adding paint and heating with a heat gun to melt it on the board over and over again.  Then the uncovered strawberry and the stick are painted with the heated pen tip and left rough and textured.
